Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 GMC Sierra, 2009 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2009 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K36 SDM.
- Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 38 and ground.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 1V between the signal circuit terminal 38 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 36 and ground.
- If not the specified value, test the low reference circuit for a short to ground.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 1V between the low reference circuit terminal 36 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage.
- Test for 1.8-5.5 M Ω between signal circuit terminal 38 and low reference circuit terminal 36
- If less than the specified range, replace the B59 center front impact sensor
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit and low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the B59?center front impact sensor
- If all circuits test normal, replace the K36 SDM.
