Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 GMC Sierra, 2009 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2009 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K36 SDM.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 38 and ground.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  3. Ignition ON, test for less than 1V between the signal circuit terminal 38 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
  4. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 36 and ground.
    • If not the specified value, test the low reference circuit for a short to ground.
  5. Ignition ON, test for less than 1V between the low reference circuit terminal 36 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage.
  6. Test for 1.8-5.5 M Ω between signal circuit terminal 38 and low reference circuit terminal 36
    • If less than the specified range, replace the B59 center front impact sensor
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit and low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the B59?center front impact sensor
  7. If all circuits test normal, replace the K36 SDM.
