Water-In-Fuel Draining Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Attach a small piece of hose to the drain cock onto the water-in-fuel sensor. Place an approved fuel-resistant container under the fuel filter. Open the drain cock three or four turns or until the water contaminated fuel seeps from the drain cock. Operate the priming pump until only diesel fuel is visible. See FUEL SYSTEM PRIMING . Allow the pump to return upwards between pushes. Tighten the drain cock. Remove the container and hose.
