Removal Procedure

WARNING: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Warning
WARNING: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (V-Series) and Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Base)
  2. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe ground bolt (1).

  3. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe clamp (2).
  4. Place a clean drain pan large enough to capture the fuel that may be expelled once the hose is removed.
  5. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe (3) from the fuel tank.
  6. Remove the right rear wheelhouse panel liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Non V-Series) and Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (V-Series)
  7. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe housing. Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Housing Replacement
  8. Remove the tie straps (3) attaching the evaporative emission canister purge pipe and fuel tank vent hose to the fuel tank filler pipe.

  9. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe bolt (1).
  10. Remove the fuel tank vent hose (2) from the fuel tank filler pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  11. Support the rear suspension with a jack stand.
  12. Loosen the two right side suspension cradle bolts and lower the cradle slightly to remove the fill pipe.
  13. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe (4) from the vehicle.
