Installation Procedure

    Position the intermediate steering shaft (1) on the vehicle.

    Prepare the intermediate steering shaft upper bolt (1) for installation.

    1. Prepare the bolt for installation as follows:
    2. Remove all traces of the adhesive patch from the bolt and the mating threads using the appropriate tools.
    3. Clean the threads of the bolt and mating threads with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    4. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
    5. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the bolt.
  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 30 N.m (22 lb ft)

    Prepare the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (1) for installation.

    1. Prepare the bolt for installation as follows:
    2. Remove all traces of the adhesive patch from the bolt and the mating threads using the appropriate tools.
    3. Clean the threads of the bolt and mating threads with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    4. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
    5. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the bolt.
  6. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 50 N.m (37 lb ft)

    Install the engine front splash rear shield (1). Engine Front Splash Rear Shield Replacement
