Installation Procedure
The EN-52443 High Pressure Fuel Pump Alignment Tool has two ends marked with number 1 (1) and number 2 (2).
- NOTE:
- The camshaft MUST be at the base circle position before the fuel pump is installed.
- At the base circle position, the EN-52443 High Pressure Fuel Pump Alignment Tool will sit flush with the cylinder head.
Install the EN-52443 High Pressure Fuel Pump Alignment Tool (1) with the number 2 (1) facing outward and turn the crankshaft until the camshaft lobe is at the base circle position.
- Remove the EN-52443 High Pressure Fuel Pump Alignment Tool (1).
Lubricate the valve lifter follower (2) with clean engine oil.
- Valve Lifter Follower (2) - Install
- Fuel Pump Seal (3) - Install NEW
- Fuel Pump (1) - Install
- Fuel Pump Bolt (4) - Install and tighten [2x] Fastener Specifications
- Connect the fuel pump electrical connector.
Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe (2) - Install NEW
- Nut @ Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe (2) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Pipe Bolt (1) - Install - Fastener Specifications
- WARNING:
The noise cancelling foam component MUST be replaced if it has been exposed to engine fluids. Failure to replace the noise cancelling foam component that has been exposed to engine fluids may result in an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine damage, and possible injury or death.
Fuel Pump Insulator (1) - Install
- Reposition wiring harness as necessary.
Fuel Pump Cover (2) - Install
- Fuel Pump Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
Fuel Feed Pipe (1) @ Fuel Pump - Connect - Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Reposition wiring harness as necessary.
Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Pipe (3) - Install
- Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clip (1) @ Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Pipe Bracket - Install
- Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clip (2) @ Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Pipe Bracket - Install
Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clip (2) @ Engine Wiring Harness - Install
- Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clip (1) @ Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose - Install
- Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clip (3) @ Fuel Pump Cover - Install
Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install
- NOTE:
Ensure the intake manifold cover retainers fully engage the intake manifold cover studs.
Push down on the front of the intake manifold cover (1) engaging the intake manifold cover retainers to the intake manifold cover studs.
- Install the oil fill cap.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Pressurize the fuel system and inspect for leaks.
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
- Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
- Inspect for fuel leaks.
Alternately hand-tighten the fuel pump bolts one turn at a time until the pump is fully seated. Trying to draw down the pump without even side-to-side tightening may result in pump plunger damage.
