Installation Procedure

    Steering Column (1) - Install

    NOTE:

    Support the steering column while installing the steering column nuts.

    Steering Column Nut (1) - Install and hand tighten [4x]

  3. CAUTION:

    Fastener Caution .

  4. Steering Column Nut (1) - Tighten in sequence [4x] 22 N.m (16 lb ft)
  5. Connect the steering column electrical connectors.

    Align the relationship marks made between the steering column and the upper intermediate steering shaft (1) during removal.

  7. Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft @ Steering Column - Install - Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement

    Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side (2) - Install - Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side

  9. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator - Left Side - Install - Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement - Left Side

    Steering Column Lower Trim Cover (1) - Install - Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement (N38) , or Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement (N37)

    CAUTION:

    The anti-rotation pin must be removed from the steering column before installing the steering wheel. Ensure that the steering wheel bolt is torqued to specification during steering wheel installation. Over torquing the steering wheel bolt can result in damage to the steering column rivets which will disable the telescoping mechanism. If the steering column rivets are damaged, a new steering column must be installed.

    Remove the CH-42640  Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin (1) from the steering column lower access hole.

    Steering Wheel (1) - Install - Steering Wheel Replacement 

  13. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
  14. Perform functionality check of tilt and telescoping features.
