Installation Procedure
Steering Column Control Module (1) - Install
- Steering Column Control Module Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Steering Column Telescope Actuator (1) - Install
Steering Column Telescope Actuator Bracket (1) - Install
Steering Column Tilt Wheel Actuator Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Steering Column Telescope Actuator Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Electrical Connector (2) - Connect [2x]
Steering Column Telescope Actuator Bracket (1) - Install
- Steering Column Telescope Actuator Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Steering Column Tilt Wheel Actuator (1) - Install
Connect the electrical connector. (1)
Steering Column Tilt Wheel Actuator Bracket (1) - Install
- Steering Column Tilt Wheel Actuator Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Steering Column Tilt Wheel Actuator Bracket (1) - Install
- Steering Column Tilt Wheel Actuator Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Steering Column (1) - Install
- Connect the electrical connectors.
Steering Column Nut (1) - Install and tighten in sequence [4x] - Fastener Specifications
Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) @ Steering Column - Install
Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side (1) - Install
Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- Install the wire harness clip (1) at the front floor air outlet duct.
- Connect the electrical connector. (3)
Connect the electrical connector.
- Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Driver Side (2) - Install
- Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Install the left instrument panel lower trim panel insulator (1) to the floor studs.
Connect the instrument panel wiring harness (3) to the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator.
- Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- {If equipped} Instrument Panel Insulator Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- WARNING:
When removing, handling or installing this component wear protective gloves. The sharp edges on the component may be very sharp and may cause injury.
- Instrument Panel Knee Bolster (1) - Install
Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
Insert the tab at the top of the instrument panel outer trim cover (1) into the instrument panel before installing.
- Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover (1) - Install
Install the turn signal switch bracket (1) as an assembly.
- Ensure the tabs on the turn signal switch bracket are fully engaged.
- CAUTION:
Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution .
Tighten the turn signal switch bracket band clamp (1) to specification. Fastener Specifications
Wiring Harness Clip (2) - Install
- Connect the electrical connector. (1)
Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Install [2x]
- Connect the electrical connector. (1)
Ensure the steering wheel airbag coil is CENTERED during installation. Steering Wheel Airbag Coil Centering
- Steering Wheel Airbag Coil (1) - Install
- Connect the electrical connector.
Connect the electrical connector.
- Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover (1) - Install
Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
Secure the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) to the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover.
Connect the electrical connector.
- Steering Wheel (2) - Install
- If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
- Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Steering Wheel Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Connect the electrical connectors.
- Install any connector position assurance (CPA) devices or secondary locks.
- Steering Wheel Airbag (1) - Install
Steering Wheel Airbag Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Install the left and right steering wheel airbag access hole covers (1).
- Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Ensure the 4 integral retainers are fully engaged.
After installation of the steering wheel airbag module to the steering wheel, slightly pull the module outward. If there is no give on the airbag module then it is secured correctly. If the airbag module is not fully attached personal injury could result.
