Ignition Switches & Lock Cylinder: Servicing: Notes
Chrysler Corp. and International Harvester vehicles with column mounted ignition switches and lock cylinders require that the steering wheel, steering column and turn signal switch be removed before ignition components are accessible. On General Motors vehicles, the steering column must be removed or lowered, and steering wheel, and turn signal switch removed before access to ignition components is obtained. On Ford Motor Co. vehicles, Jeep vehicles and all models not having the ignition mounted on the steering column require no removal of steering components.
CAUTION:
Some steering columns are collapsible and special care must be taken to avoid bumping, jolting or hammering on steering shaft and gearshift tube.
