Feedback System Check

  1. Connect tachometer to engine. Open fuse block compartment on left side of dash. Turn on cancel switch (toggle switch), located on right side of fuse block. Turn ignition on, but do not start engine. "Sensor" light on dash should glow. If light does not glow, check bulb and connector.
  2. With "Sensor" light glowing, start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. After engine reaches normal operating temperature, run engine at 1500-2000 RPM. "Sensor" light should be flashing.
  3. If light does not flash, service or adjust the following components: Oxygen sensor, mixture control solenoid, carburetor idle mixture, thermal switch, emission control wiring connections, Electronic Control Module (ECM), idle switch, or wide open throttle switch.
  4. Turn cancel switch off. "Sensor" light should go off. Turn engine off.
