Fuel Gauge: Notes

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable and remove rear seat. Disconnect Yellow/Red wire at sending unit. Ground Yellow/Red wire using a test light. Turn ignition on. Bulb should light and gauge pointer should fluctuate after a few seconds.
  2. If gauge does not fluctuate, remove fuel gauge for testing. Attach ohmmeter leads across "FU" and "E" terminals on back of instrument panel at fuel gauge. See Figure .
  3. Resistance should be 55 ohms. If resistance is within specification, reconnect fuel gauge connection. Ensure 2-7 volts are supplied to Yellow/Red wire with ignition on.
