Choke Breaker System

  1. Check Thermostatic Vacuum Switching Valve (TVSV) with engine cold. Start engine. With coolant temperature below 45°F (7°C), disconnect vacuum hose from outer choke breaker diaphragm "B". See Figure . Choke linkage should not move.
  2. Reconnect vacuum hose. Disconnect vacuum hose from inner choke breaker diaphragm "A". See Figure . Choke linkage should move. Reconnect vacuum hose and check that choke linkage moves within 1-5 seconds.
  3. Check TVSV and outer diaphragm with engine at normal operating temperature. Disconnect vacuum hose from outer diaphragm "B". Choke linkage should return. Reconnect vacuum hose. Inspect components if system fails to operate as listed.
