Seats - Power: Testing
Power Seat Switch
1) Ensure battery is fully charged. Operate seat switch and check for motor operation. If motors are heard operating, check for binding or for stripped drive in motor(s). If motors do not operate, check fuse and replace if defective.
2) If fuse is okay, remove power seat switch and disconnect connector. Using a test light, check for voltage between terminals "F" and "C". See Fig 1. If voltage is present, replace switch.
3) If voltage is not present, connect test light to a good ground and terminal "F". If voltage is present, repair ground wire at terminal "C" and recheck. If voltage is not present and fuse is good, repair open or short in feed wire (terminal "F").
Rear Tilt Motor
1) Install seat switch and connect connector. Disconnect rear tilt motor connector. Connect a test light to Dark Green wire on rear tilt connector and a good ground. Position seat switch in up position and check for voltage. Connect test light to Dark Blue wire and good ground. Position seat switch in down position and check for voltage.
2) If voltage is present at both terminals, replace rear tilt motor. If voltage is present at one terminal and not present at other terminal, replace switch.
3) If voltage is not present at either terminal, check for open or short in both wires from motor connector to switch. Repair as necessary. If no short or open is present, replace switch.
Front Tilt Motor
1) Disconnect front tilt motor connector. Connect a test light to a good ground and Light Blue wire. Position seat switch in down position and check for voltage. Connect test light to a good ground and Yellow wire. Position seat switch in up position and check for voltage.
2) If voltage is present at both wires, replace front tilt motor. If voltage is present at one terminal and not present at other terminal, replace seat switch.
3) If voltage is not present at either terminal, check for open or short in both wires from connector to seat switch. Repair as necessary. If no short or open is present, replace switch.
Forward/Rearward Motor
1) Disconnect connector from forward/rearward motor. Connect a test light to a good ground and Tan wire. Position seat switch in back position and check for voltage. Connect test light to good ground and Light Green wire. Position seat switch in forward position and check for voltage.
2) If voltage is present at both wires, replace forward/rearward motor. If voltage is present at one terminal and not present at other terminal, replace seat switch.
3) If voltage is not present at either terminal, check for open or short in both wires from connector to seat switch. Repair as necessary. If no short or open is present, replace switch.
