Code A047, Left Front Motor Spins Freely: Notes
This code is designed to detect a stripped gear or nut assembly during initialization. During the homing sequence, piston should reach top of bore resulting in a stalled motor. If motor does not stall, motor must be free spinning with little or no resistance, indicating a nut, screw or gear failure.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Positions motor at bottom of its travel.
- Determines if gear or nut is stripped. If either are stripped, hydraulic pressure applied from master cylinder will not overcome hydraulic ball screw, and brake pedal will not rise.
- When ball screw reaches top of its travel during full application, motor should stall. If motor continues to run, this indicates a gear or nut is stripped.
- Releases motor pack tension before removal.
