Steering Column: Overhaul: Notes

CAUTION: DO NOT strike steering shaft with hammer to remove steering wheel. Hammering could loosen the plastic injections that maintain column rigidity.

NOTE: For exploded view of steering column assembly, see Figure and Figure . Perform overhaul procedures with column removed from vehicle, and with steering wheel, combination switch and wiper/washer switch removed from steering column. Step 1) of disassembly procedure can be performed with column in vehicle if necessary.
