Intermediate Shaft Retainer Screw "J", "L" & "N" Bodies (Exc. Skylark) 89 (10)
(1) Tighten specification, and then tighten an additional 20 degrees.
(2) On DeVille/Sixty-Special with power heavy-duty brakes, torque nut to 130 ft. lbs. (176 N.m).
(3) Tighten to torque specified. If necessary, tighten nut to align cotter pin hole but no more than 60 degrees (one flat).
(4) On "A" body with power heavy-duty brakes, torque bolt to 70 ft. lbs. (95 N.m).
(5) Tighten bolts at end of intermediate shaft housing to 18 ft. lbs. (24 N.m).
(6) Tighten to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m), then turn nut additional 120 degrees (2 flats). Minimum torque of 37 ft. lbs. (50 N.m) must be obtained.
