Transmission Selector Lever Will Not Move From Park Position

  1. With ignition switch in RUN position and shift lever in PARK. Connect test lamp from Light Blue/Black wire to ground at brake/shift interlock relay connector. If test lamp lights, go to step 3). If test lamp does not light, check park/neutral position switch adjustment. If adjustment is correct, go to next step.
  2. Connect test lamp from Light Blue/Black wire at park/neutral position switch connector to ground. If test lamp lights, locate and repair open Light Blue/Black wire between park/neutral position switch connector and brake/shift interlock relay connector. If test lamp does not light, replace park/neutral position switch.
  3. Connect self-powered test lamp from Black wire at brake/shift interlock relay connector to ground. If test lamp lights, go to next step. If test lamp does not light, locate and repair open in Black wire between brake/shift interlock relay connector and splice or between splice and instrument panel ground. condominiums
  4. Connect test lamp between Purple wire at brake/shift interlock relay connector and ground. If test lamp lights, go to step 7). If test lamp does not light, go to next step.
  5. Connect test lamp between Purple wire at antilock brake switch connector and ground. If test lamp lights, locate and repair open in Purple wire between antilock brake switch connector and brake/shift interlock relay connector. If test lamp does not light, go to next step.
  6. Connect test lamp to Pink/White wire at antilock brake switch connector and ground. See wiring diagram in ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM - 4-WHEEL article. If test lamp lights, check antilock brake switch adjustment. If adjustment is correct, replace antilock brake switch. If test lamp does not light, locate and repair open in Pink/White wire between antilock brake switch connector and splice or between splice and fuse block.
  7. Connect test lamp between Dark Green/White wire at brake/shift interlock relay connector ground. If test lamp lights, go to next step. If test lamp does not light, replace brake/shift interlock relay.
  8. Connect test lamp to Dark Green/White wire at BTSI solenoid connector and ground. If test lamp lights, go to next step. If test lamp does not light, locate and repair open in Dark Green/White wire between BTSI solenoid connector and park/neutral position switch connector.
  9. Connect test lamp between Dark Green/White wire and Black wire at BTSI solenoid connector. If test lamp lights, replace BTSI solenoid. If test lamp does not light, locate and repair open in Black wire between BTSI solenoid connector and splice.
