Test 36A - Odometer/Speedometer Failure

NOTE:
Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Raise and support vehicle. Start engine. Place gear selector in Drive. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal. If VSS signal does not increase smoothly with acceleration, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT section. If VSS signal increases smoothly with acceleration, go to next step.
- Check if problem is with odometer only. If problem is not with odometer only, replace instrument cluster. If problem is with odometer only, replace body control module.
