Liftgate Does Not Unlock With Key Switch

  1. Connect self-powered test light between Red wire at liftgate key switch connector and ground. Turn key to unlock position. If test light glows briefly, go to step 4). If test light does not glow, go to next step.
  2. Connect self-powered test light between Black wire at key switch connector and ground. If test light does not glow, go to next step. If test light glows, replace key switch.
  3. Connect self-powered test light between Black wire at liftgate strut switch connector and ground. If test light glows, repair open in Black wire between key switch connector and ground splice. If test light does not glow, repair open in Black wire between lock/latch module connector and ground splice.
  4. Connect self-powered test light between Red wire at lock/latch module connector and ground. Turn key to unlock position. If test light glows briefly, go to next step. If test light does not glow, repair open in Red wire between lock/latch module connector and key switch connector.
  5. Connect self-powered test light between Black wire at lock/latch module connector and ground. If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, repair open in Black wire between lock/latch module connector and ground splice.
  6. Connect test light between Orange/Black wire at lock/latch module connector and ground. If test light glows, repair open in Gray wire between lock/latch module connector and mini-wedge latch solenoid splice. If wire is okay, replace lock/latch module. If test light does not glow, repair open in Orange/Black wire between lock/latch module connector and fuse panel.
