Cruise Control Module Does Not Engage, But Cruise Indicator Functions
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Disconnect radio Gray 10-pin connector C2. Disconnect multi-function alarm module connector C1. Disconnect cruise control module connector. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Black 80-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, check voltage between cruise control module harness connector terminal "K" (Dark Green/White wire) and ground. If zero volts exist, go to next step. If zero volts does not exist, go to step 3).
- Using DVOM, check resistance between cruise control module harness connector terminal "K" (Dark Green/White wire) and ground. If resistance is infinite, go to step 4). If resistance is not infinite, go to step 5).
- Repair short to voltage in Dark Green/White wire between instrument cluster, cruise control module, radio connector C2, multi-function alarm module connector C1 and PCM connector C2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Recheck system operation.
- Using DVOM, check resistance between cruise control module harness connector terminal "K" (Dark Green/White wire) and PCM connector C2, terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/White wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 6). If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 7).
- Repair short to ground in Dark Green/White wire between instrument cluster, cruise control module, radio connector C2, multi-function alarm module connector C1 and PCM connector C2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Recheck system operation.
- Replace cruise control module. Recheck system operation. If system is still not operating properly, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
- Repair open in Dark Green/White wire between cruise control module and PCM connector C2. Recheck system operation.
