Removal & Installation: Starter: Removal

- Remove negative cable. Remove starter solenoid terminal "S" nut and battery cable nut. Separate wiring from starter.
- On 7.4L engine with electronically controlled transmission, remove torque converter inspection cover. On all models, remove starter mounting bolts. Remove shims and note arrangement for reassembly. Remove starter. Remove starter shield.
