Cruise Control Systems: Description

WARNING: Before servicing steering column or instrument panel components on vehicles with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAIN SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. DO NOT  apply electrical power to any component on steering column without deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, radio will go into anti-theft protection mode. Obtain radio anti-theft protection code from owner prior to servicing vehicle.

Cruise control system consists of Cruise Control Module (CCM), servo and actuator motor, associated cables, speed sensor, CRUISE ON-OFF switch, stoplight switch, clutch pedal position (CPP) interrupt switch (M/T), park/neutral position (PNP) switch (A/T) and related wiring. See Fig 1 . The system allows vehicle to cruise at a desired speed greater than 25 MPH.
