Test No 2

  1. Perform BCM SYSTEM CHECK in BODY CONTROL MODULE article. Perform CTD SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING.
  2. Ensure instrument panel dimmer switch is off. Turn on interior light override switch (interior lights enabled, not on). Turn ignition on. Lower driver's window. Close all doors. While observing interior lights, open, then close door. If interior lights turn on with door open and turn off with door closed, go to next step. If interior lights do not operate as specified, repair problem between door ajar switch and BCM. After repairs, go to step 9).
  3. Ensure instrument panel dimmer switch is off and doors are closed. Turn on interior light override switch (interior lights enabled, not on). Turn ignition off. While observing interior lights, remove key from ignition. If interior lights turn on, go to next step. If interior lights do not turn on, repair problem between ignition key alarm switch and BCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Remove key from ignition. Close all doors. While observing locks, lock and unlock doors with power door lock switch. If locks operate properly, go to next step. If locks do not operate properly, repair problem between power door lock switch(es) and BCM. After repairs, go to step 9).
  5. Remove key from ignition. Close all doors. While observing locks, lock and unlock doors using remote transmitter. If locks operate properly, go to next step. If locks do not operate properly, repair problem between Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system and BCM. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM article. After repairs, go to step 9).
  6. Check shock sensor sensitivity. See PROGRAMMING  . If sensitivity is okay, go to next step. If sensitivity is not okay, adjust as necessary. After adjustments, go to step 9).
  7. Disconnect shock sensor connector. Disconnect BCM connector C2. Using DVOM, check continuity between BCM harness connector C2 terminal D14 (Light Green wire) and ground. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Light Green wire. After repairs, go to step 9).
  8. Recheck CTD by performing CTD SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING. If system is okay, problem does not exist at this time. Go to next step. If system is not okay, check BCM connectors and repair as necessary. If connectors are okay, replace BCM. After replacing BCM, go to next step.
  9. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all connectors and components. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 6 seconds. Turn ignition off. Remove BCM PRGRM fuse. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. BCM should flash seat belt indicator and sound chime 4 times. Within one second, turn ignition switch from ACC to LOCK, then back to ACC position. If any DTCs are stored, see BODY CONTROL MODULE article for diagnosis and repair. If BCM DTCs do not exist, system is okay.
