Power Sliding Door System Check
- With transmission in Park, ignition switch in LOCK position. Unlock sliding door. Enable PSD lock-out switch (depressed position) located in overhead console. Open sliding door manually to stop. Close and latch sliding door manually. If sliding door slides smoothly without any roughness, binding, jerkiness or excessive resistance, go to next step. If sliding door does not slide smoothly without any roughness, binding, jerkiness or excessive resistance, go to TEST NO. 1: SLIDING DOOR MECHANICAL CHECK .
- Disable PSD lock-out switch (released position). Depress PSD open/close switch in overhead console. If sliding door opens, go to next step. If sliding door does not open, go to step 11).
- Depress PSD open/close switch. If sliding door closes, go to next step. If sliding door does not close, go to step 11).
- Enable PSD lock-out switch (depressed position). Depress PSD open/close switch. If sliding door remains closed, go to next step. If sliding door does not remain closed, go to TEST NO. 2: LOCK-OUT & OPEN/CLOSE SWITCH TEST .
- Disable PSD lock-out switch (released position). Depress and hold brake pedal. Start engine. Shift transaxle out of Park. Depress PSD open/close switch. If sliding door stays closed, go to next step. If sliding door does not remain closed, go to TEST NO. 3: POWER SLIDING DOOR OPENS WITH TRANSAXLE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK .
- Shift transaxle into Park. Depress PSD open/close switch, opening sliding door. Depress PSD open/close switch again, closing sliding door. While sliding door is closing, depress and firmly hold brake pedal, then shift transaxle out of Park. If PSD alarm sounds while sliding door is closing when transaxle is shifted out of Park, go to next step. If PSD alarm does not sound while sliding door is closing when transaxle is shifted out of Park, go to TEST NO. 4: POWER SLIDING DOOR ALARM INOPERATIVE .
- Shift transaxle into Park. Turn ignition to LOCK position. Depress open/close switch in "B" pillar. If sliding door opens, go to next step. If sliding door does not open, go to TEST NO. 5: "B" PILLAR PSD OPEN/CLOSE SWITCH INOPERATIVE .
- Depress PSD open/close button on RKE transmitter. If RKE transmitter opens sliding door, go to next step. If RKE transmitter does not open sliding door, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM article for diagnosis.
- Disengage sliding door child lock. With door closed, pull either door handle on sliding door. If sliding door opens (with power assist), go to next step. If the sliding door does not open (with power assist), go to step 11).
- Check reversal (obstacle detection) feature as follows:
- Fully open sliding door.
- Place wood block between sliding door and "B" pillar to block door near closing. Ensure no damage to vehicle will occur.
- Push sliding door open/close switch and allow sliding door to close, being ready to push lockout switch if needed to avoid injury or damage.
If sliding door closing operation stops as door touches object, and reopens (reversal feature), system is okay. If sliding door closing operation does not stop as door touches object, and does not reopen, go to next step.
- Enter Diagnostic Mode 1 to check for DTCs. See procedures in ENTERING DIAGNOSTIC MODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If PSD alarm sounds for 3 seconds, indicating entry into Diagnostic Mode 1, go to next step. If PSD alarm does not sound for 3 seconds, indicating entry into Diagnostic Mode 1, go to TEST NO. 6: UNABLE TO ENTER DIAGNOSTIC MODE 1 .
- Record DTCs from PSD control module memory. After all DTCs have been read, exit Diagnostic Mode 1. If DTC 12 (No Trouble Found) is the only current DTC, go to next step. If DTC 12 is not the only DTC set, go to DTC IDENTIFICATION table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
- Enter diagnostic mode 3. See ENTERING DIAGNOSTIC MODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM . Upon entering Diagnostic Mode 3, if sliding door opened from latched (closed) to open position past ajar position, but not fully open, go to next step. If sliding door did not open from latched position past ajar position, go to TEST NO. 7: DOOR LATCH RELEASE ACTUATOR INOPERATIVE .
- Enable PSD lock-out switch (depressed position). Close and latch sliding door manually. Remove RADIO fuse (10-amp) for 30 seconds. Reinstall RADIO fuse. Wait 10 seconds, then disable PSD lock-out switch. Depress PSD open/close button to open sliding door. Wait 5 seconds, depress PSD open/close button to close sliding door. Wait 5 seconds, depress PSD open/close button sliding to open sliding door. Wait 5 second, depress PSD open/close button to close sliding door. Wait 5 seconds, depress PSD open/close button to open sliding door. If PSD operates normally, system is okay. If PSD does not operate properly, go to next step.
- Replace PSD actuator motor assembly. See POWER SLIDING DOOR ACTUATOR MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 1).
