Test No. 3
- Enter Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostics. See procedures in BODY CONTROL MODULE article. If any BCM codes are present, repair as necessary. If no BCM codes are present, go to next step.
- Remove key from ignition. Close all vehicle doors. While observing door locks, depress LOCK then UNLOCK on both driver and passenger door lock switches. If all doors lock and unlock when using either door lock switch, go to next step. If all doors do not lock and unlock when using either door lock switch, see POWER DOOR LOCKS article for diagnostic information.
- Turn off instrument panel dimmer switch. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove BCM PRGRM (10-amp) fuse. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. BCM should sound chime number of times (1-4) equivalent to BCM type installed in vehicle. Set remote unlock control to mode 2. See REMOTE ACTIVATION VERIFICATION CUSTOMIZATION under PROGRAMMING - PROCEDURES. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reinstall BCM PRGRM fuse. While observing door locks, depress UNLOCK button once on transmitter, then again within 5 seconds. If driver's door unlocks when pressing UNLOCK once on transmitter, and all doors unlock after depressing UNLOCK button a second time within 5 seconds, go to next step. If driver's door did not unlock when pressing UNLOCK once on transmitter, and all doors did not unlock after depressing UNLOCK button a second time within 5 seconds, go to step 5).
- Remove BCM PRGRM (10-amp) fuse. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Set remote unlock control to mode 1 (depress and release UNLOCK button on transmitter). Turn ignition to LOCK position. Reinstall BCM PRGRM fuse. While observing door locks, depress UNLOCK button on transmitter. If all doors unlock when UNLOCK button on transmitter is depressed, go to step 6). If all doors did not unlock when UNLOCK button on transmitter was depressed, go to next step.
- Replace BCM. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reinstall connectors and components removed. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 6 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove BCM PRGRM fuse. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. BCM sounds chime a number of times equivalent to BCM type installed. Within one second, turn ignition switch to LOCK position, then back to ACC position. BCM may sound and store DTCs. If no BCM DTCs are present, system is okay. If BCM DTCs are present, see BODY CONTROL MODULE article.
