Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system consists of a transmitter and in-vehicle receiver (BCM). Press UNLOCK button once and release to unlock driver's door, illuminates interior lighting for 20 seconds and disarms content theft deterrent system (if equipped). UNLOCK also restores radio settings to those last used by driver identified by RKE transmitter. Press UNLOCK button a second time (within 1-5 seconds of first depression) to unlock remaining doors. Press LOCK to lock doors and deactivate illuminated entry. Press LOCK again within 5 seconds to arm content theft-deterrent system. To release hatch, press bottom button marked with vehicle symbol on top cover. Vehicle must be stopped. Press PANIC button marked with horn symbol to activate emergency panic mode. This will activate horn and parking lights intermittently for 2 minutes or until PANIC button is pressed again or ignition switch is turned to RUN position with a valid Passlock(R) key.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system is intended to be used as supplemental vehicle entry system and should be used in conjunction with door lock key. RKE system may become disabled due to radio frequency interference, low battery power level or transmitter and BCM not synchronized.
