Test D: Security Indicator Always On Or Flashing: Testing

- If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform diagnostic system check before proceeding. See THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, command SECURITY indicator OFF. If SECURITY indicator does not turn off when commanded, go to next step. If SECURITY indicator turns off when commanded, inspect for intermittents or poor connections. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) 32-pin harness connector C3. BCM is located behind right side of instrument panel, near blower motor. See Figure. If SECURITY indicator turns off, go to next step. If SECURITY indicator does not turn off, go to step 6.
- Inspect Gray wire for a short to ground between ground and BCM harness connector C3 terminal C12. See Figure. If a short to ground is not found, go to next step. If a short to ground is found, repair as necessary then go to step 7.
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Program IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to step 7.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step 2.
