System Operation Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts and SECURITY indicator light illuminates for 5 seconds, and then turns off, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 2-pin lock cylinder harness connector at base of steering column. Connect PASS-Key(R) II Interrogator (J-35628-A) to both connectors. Insert ignition key in PASS-Key(R) II Interrogator (J-35628-A) and read key code. Set key code selector on Interrogator to another code. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine does not crank and SECURITY indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
  3. Within 3 minutes of performing previous step, turn ignition off, disconnect Interrogator and reconnect connectors. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine does not crank and SECURITY indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait 3-4 minutes. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts and SECURITY indicator light illuminates for 5 seconds, and then turns off, check is complete. If operation is not as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
