Diagnostic System Check
- Ensure all components are connected. Turn ignition switch to RUN position (engine off). Connect scan tool. Following scan tool manufacturer's instructions, check if scan tool communicates with BCM. If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, inspect Data Link Connector (DLC). Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step.
- Using scan tool menu in BODY FUNCTION mode, read BCM DTCs. If any current DTCs are set, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX
table. If no DTCs are set, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove scan tool from DLC. Turn ignition switch to RUN position (engine off). If SECURITY indicator light turns on and then off, go to step 5
. If SECURITY indicator light does not turn on and then off, go to next step.
- If SECURITY indicator light does not stay on or flash, go to next step. If SECURITY indicator light stays on or flashes, see SYMPTOM TESTS

- Using scan tool, check for history DTCs. If history DTCs are present, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX
