Door Systems Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC located under steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communication with passenger and driver door control modules. If scan tool communicates with modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with modules, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select right and left door control module display DTCs function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair by symptom. See appropriate POWER WINDOWS, POWER MIRRORS or POWER DOOR LOCKS article.
  4. Check for communication DTCs. These DTCs will begin with "U". If no "U" DTCs exist, repair by symptom. See appropriate POWER WINDOWS, POWER MIRRORS or POWER DOOR LOCKS article. If any "U" DTC exists, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
