DTC B3031: Security System Controller In Learn Mode: Testing

  1. If theft deterrent system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Momentarily turn ignition switch to START position and then release to ON position, but do not start vehicle. Using scan tool, select BCM DISPLAY DTCS. If scan tool displays DTC B3031 as current, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DTC B3031 as current, go to step  4 .
  3. If scan tool displays DTC B2947, B2948, B2957, B2958, B2960 or B3033, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If scan tool does not display DTC B2947, B2948, B2957, B2958, B2960 or B3033, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  4. Reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Start engine. Using scan tool, select BCM DISPLAY DTCS. If DTC resets, go to step  3 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
