Data Link Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, right of steering column. Attempt to communicate with Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). If scan tool communicates with EBCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with EBCM, go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Using scan tool, attempt communication with non ABS systems. If scan tool does not communicate with non ABS systems, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH UNIVERSAL ASYNCHRONOUS RECEIVE & TRANSMIT DATA LINE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
