Test R: MULTIFUNCTION Alarm Module Inoperative

  1. If audible warnings system operation check has been performed, go to next step. If audible warnings system operation check has not been performed, perform audible warnings system operation check. See AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Open driver's side front door. Disconnect chime audio alarm module 7-pin harness connector. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe chime audio alarm module harness connector terminal No. 6 (Black/Blue wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  3. Measure voltage between ground and chime audio alarm module harness connector terminal No. 5 (Black/White wire). See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to step  5 . If battery voltage does not exist, go to step  6 .
  4. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe driver's side door jamb switch connector (component side). If test light illuminates, go to step  9 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  10 .
  5. Do not disconnect test light. Disconnect junction block 20-pin harness connector C4. Junction block is located under left side of instrument panel. If test light illuminates, go to step  7 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  6. Replace chime audio alarm module. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  7. Measure voltage between ground and chime audio alarm module harness connector terminal No. 5 and instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 11 (both Black/White wires). See Figure and Figure . If battery voltage exists at either terminal, go to step  11 . If battery voltage does not exist at either terminal, go to step  12 .
  8. Replace junction block. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  9. Repair open in Black/Blue wire between chime audio alarm module and driver's side door jamb switch. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  10. Inspect driver's side door jamb switch for a poor ground connection. If driver's side door jamb switch is properly grounded, replace driver's side door jamb switch. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  11. Repair short to voltage in Black/White wire between junction block and appropriate component. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  12. Replace instrument cluster printed circuit. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
