Cruise Control Indicator Always On

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe CRUISE indicator located in instrument cluster. If CRUISE indicator is illuminated, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator is not illuminated, check system for intermittent problem. See INTERMITTENT SIMULATION  under DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect cruise control servo 12-pin harness connector. Cruise control servo is located on left side of engine compartment, near strut tower. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If CRUISE indicator is not illuminated, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator is still illuminated, go to step  4 .
  3. Check system for intermittent problem. See INTERMITTENT SIMULATION  under DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS. If problem is located, repair as necessary and retest system. If problem still exists, go to step  5 .
  4. Repair short to ground in CRUISE indicator control circuit between CRUISE indicator and cruise control servo and retest system. See Figure .
  5. Replace cruise control servo and retest system. See CRUISE CONTROL SERVO  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
