Throttle Body: Removal
CAUTION:
DO NOT subject a throttle body assembly to an immersion cleaner or a strong solvent with electrical components or sensors attached. Solvents can also wash away or break down the grease used on non-serviceable throttle shaft bearings. DO NOT use a cleaner containing Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). MEK is very strong and can damage components. Never use a wire brush or scraper to clean the throttle body. A wire brush or sharp tools may damage throttle body components.
- Turn ignition off. Remove engine cover. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner outlet duct from throttle body. Remove air cleaner outlet duct adapter stud.
- Disconnect accelerator control cable from throttle shaft and bracket. Disconnect cruise control cable from throttle shaft and bracket (if equipped). Remove transmission fluid filler tube-to-accelerator control cable bracket retaining bolt. Remove accelerator control cable bracket and position aside.
- Disconnect IAC valve and TP sensor harness connectors from throttle body. Remove throttle body retaining studs. Remove throttle body assembly from intake manifold. Remove flange gasket and discard.
