Throttle Body: Removal

CAUTION: DO NOT subject a throttle body assembly to an immersion cleaner or a strong solvent with electrical components or sensors attached. Solvents can also wash away or break down the grease used on non-serviceable throttle shaft bearings. DO NOT use a cleaner containing Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). MEK is very strong and can damage components. Never use a wire brush or scraper to clean the throttle body. A wire brush or sharp tools may damage throttle body components.
  1. Turn ignition off. Remove engine cover. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner outlet duct from throttle body. Remove air cleaner outlet duct adapter stud.
  2. Disconnect accelerator control cable from throttle shaft and bracket. Disconnect cruise control cable from throttle shaft and bracket (if equipped). Remove transmission fluid filler tube-to-accelerator control cable bracket retaining bolt. Remove accelerator control cable bracket and position aside.
  3. Disconnect IAC valve and TP sensor harness connectors from throttle body. Remove throttle body retaining studs. Remove throttle body assembly from intake manifold. Remove flange gasket and discard.
