Powertrain Control Module
The cruise control module receives a vehicle speed signal input from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Cruise control module sends a signal to the PCM that the cruise control is engaged once specific criteria has been met and Set/Coast button has been pressed. PCM then sends a class 2 message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to illuminate the cruise light.
PCM will inhibit cruise control under the following conditions:
- Vehicle speed is less than 25 MPH.
- Selector lever is in Park, Reverse, Neutral, or Low position.
- Low engine RPM.
- High engine RPM (fuel cut-off).
- Vehicle speed is too high.
- An over or under charged battery voltage condition exists.
- Anti-lock brake system/traction control system is active for more than 2 seconds.
