HVAC Module Assembly: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Recover the refrigerant. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
  2. Remove the I/P carrier support. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  3. Remove the air distributor duct. See AIR DISTRIBUTOR DUCT .
  4. Remove the air inlet assembly. See AIR INLET ASSEMBLY .
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from HVAC module.
  6. Lower the engine and transmission assembly.
  7. Disconnect the A/C lines from the evaporator core, discard O-rings and remove the heater hoses from heater core.
  8. Remove the blower motor. See BLOWER MOTOR (MAIN) .
  9. Remove the evaporator drain. See Figure. Remove the evaporator outer cover.
  10. Remove the heater and evaporator module retaining nuts. Remove the heater and evaporator module assembly. See Figure.
