Engine Cranks Slowly
Perform the following checks:
- Battery - Battery Inspection/Test. See BATTERY TESTING & INSPECTION under ON-VEHICLE TESTING in GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in CHARGING SYSTEM in ELECTRICAL.
- Wiring - Inspect the wiring for damage. Inspect all connections to the starter motor, solenoid, battery and all ground connections. See INTERMITTENTS under SYMPTOMS - ENGINE ELECTRICAL.
- Engine - Make sure the engine is not seized. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article in FAULT ISOLATION in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If the battery, the wiring and the engine are functioning properly and the engine continues to crank slowly, replace the starter motor. See STARTER MOTOR REPLACEMENT under REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS.
