Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Before applying power to the front end sensor make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
    CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 1 .
  2. Open the hood and support with prop rod.
  3. Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine .
  4. Remove the radiator support and air cleaner assembly. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement and Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  5. Carefully push the air conditioner condenser and radiator rearward and insert a wedge.

  7. Remove the tow integral fasteners retaining the front discriminating sensors.
  8. Remove the front sensor from the vehicle.

  10. Disconnect the electrical connection position assurance (1).
  11. Disconnect the electrical connection from the front sensor.
