Fuel Tank: Removal
- Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain the fuel tank. See FUEL TANK DRAINING . Raise and support vehicle.
- Disconnect the fuel feed inlet hose from the fuel filter. See Figure. Disconnect the fuel vapor hose from the fuel tank. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel tank. Disconnect the fuel filler hose from the fuel tank.
- Remove the 4 bolts and the fuel tank shield from the vehicle. See Fig 1 and Fig 2
. Support the fuel tank with a hydraulic jack. Remove the 4 bolts and the 2 fuel tank straps from the vehicle. See Fig 3. Lower the fuel tank approximately 12" from the vehicle chassis.
- Disconnect the electrical connector of the fuel tank sender assembly. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel tank pressure sensor. See Fig 4. Disconnect the vapor hose to the EVAP canister.
- Disconnect the vapor hose to the EVAP canister air filter. Continue to lower the fuel tank until the tank can be removed from the vehicle.
