Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .

    Rotate the steering wheel one half turn to the right to access the steering wheel inflator module screws.

  2. Remove the screws from the back of the steering wheel inflator module using a TORX® driver.
  3. Remove the steering wheel inflator module (1) from the steering wheel (3).
  4. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the electrical connector on the steering wheel inflator module.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the steering wheel inflator module.
  6. Disconnect the horn ground lead from the steering wheel.
  7. Rotate the horn contact lead counterclockwise 1/4 turn in order to remove the horn contact lead from the steering column shaft tower.
  8. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
