Test Description

The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.

  1. 3:  This step tests for an internal EBCM malfunction.

Connector End View Reference:  Antilock Brake System Connector End Views   or  Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console Connector End Views  in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console 
1 Did you perform the ABS Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - ABS 
2 Do any of the other instrument cluster indicators or gauges function? Go to Step 3  Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console
  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the electronic brake control module (EBCM) electrical connector.
  3. Connect a 3-A fused jumper wire between the traction control system (TCS) warning indicator control circuit and ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Is the TCS warning indicator turn ON?
Go to Step 6  Go to Step 4 
4 Test the TCS warning indicator control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 7  Go to Step 5 
5 Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 7  -
6 Replace the EBCM. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Assembly Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 7  -
7 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you complete the repair?
System OK Go to Step 2
