Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 GMC Yukon XL, 2004 GMC Yukon, 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Install the hood hinge to the hood. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .
With an assistant, install the hood (1) to the vehicle.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the pivot bolt (3).
Tighten: Tighten the pivot bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Lower the hood.

Install the outboard section of the cowl vent grille panel.

Raise the hood.
Install the bolt (7) holding the hinge to the link assembly.
Tighten: Tighten the hinge to link assembly bolt (5) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

Install the hood ground strap and nut. Clip the hangers and the lamp in place.
Tighten: Tighten the ground strap nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

Lower the hood.
