Installation Procedure

    IMPORTANT: Do not tighten the 3 bolts to the final specification yet. The upper bolt (1) and the rear bolt (2) control the plane of the bracket.
  1. Install the power steering pump bracket and the 3 bolts (1,2,3) to the engine block.
  2. If the bracket DOES NOT have a dowel pin engaged into a hole in the block, complete the following steps:
    1. Push the bracket toward the rear of the engine.
    2. With rearward pressure on the bracket, tighten the bolt (3) snug.
    3. Tighten the bolt (1) snug.
    4. Tighten the bolt (2) snug.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Tighten the bolts that retain the power steering pump bracket to the engine block.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18.5 lb ft).

  5. Install the generator and the bolt to the power steering pump bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering pump and the 3 bolts to the power steering pump bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18.5 lb ft).

  7. Install the power steering pump drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Generator, Air Conditioning, and Power Steering in Engine Mechanical - 2.0L.
