Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine in Body Front End.

  5. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor wiring harness connector.

  7. Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt (9).
  8. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (10) from the extension case.

  10. Remove the O-ring seal (11) from the vehicle speed sensor (10).
  11. IMPORTANT: Handle the vehicle speed sensor (10) carefully.
  12. Inspect the vehicle speed sensor and O-ring seal for the following:
    • Damaged connector
    • Cracked housing
    • Signs of rotor damage
    • Cuts or nicks on the O-ring seal (11)
