Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Fastener Tightening Specifications:  Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
Preliminary Procedure: 
Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 .
1 Plate, Instrument Panel Trim
2 Compartment Assembly, Instrument Panel
Tip:  Squeeze the inner compartment sides together in order to lower the door past the down stops.
3 Cover, Instrument Panel Compartment Accessory Hole
4 Bolt, Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  10 N.m (89 lb in)

5 Module, Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint
Tip: 
  1. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
