Circuit/System Testing
- Disconnect the engine control module (ECM) connector that contains the MIL control circuit.
- Jumper the MIL control circuit with a J 36169-A at the ECM connector to a good ground.
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
- If the MIL illuminates replace the ECM.
- Test the MIL voltage supply circuit for an open or short to ground.
- Test the MIL control circuit for a short to voltage or a short to ground.
- If the all circuits test OK replace the instrument panel cluster assembly.
