Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2007 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit and ground.
- If greater than 1 ohm, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the engine control module (ECM).
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8 - 5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit and ground.
- If greater than 5.2 volts, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Install a 3-Amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit and the low reference circuit. Verify the scan tool Engine Oil Pressure Sensor parameter is less than 4.8 volts.
- If greater than 4.8 volts, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the EOP sensor.
