Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Rear

Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Rear

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary:
  • The seat cushion frame
  • The seat recliner, if equipped
  • The seat adjuster
  • The seat back frame

Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Fastener Tightening Specifications:  Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
  1. Disable the SIR, if equipped. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 10  and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 12 .
  2. Remove the rear seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Rear .
1 Armrest Assembly
Refer to Armrest Replacement - Front Seat .
2 Head Restraint Assembly
Refer to Head Restraint Replacement - Front Seat .
3 Cover, Seat Back Cushion
Tip:  Slide the seat back cushion up far enough to gain access to the side impact inflatable restraint nuts.
4 Nut, Side Impact Inflatable Restraint (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  5 N.m (44 lb in)

6 Module Assembly, Inflatable Restraint
Tip: 
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
