Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Relieving Fuel Pressure Caution .
  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution .
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .

  6. Remove the front muffler. Refer to Muffler Replacement (Gasoline Engine Front) or Muffler Replacement (Gasoline Engine Rear) or Muffler Replacement (Diesel Engine) .

  8. Disconnect the fuel tank filler tube.

  10. Disconnect the fuel line near the right front of the fuel tank.
  11. Remove the rear seat. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement .

  13. Remove the fuel pump access cover.

  15. Disconnect the electrical connector at the fuel pump assembly.
  16. Disconnect the fuel line.

  18. Remove the parking brake cables support bracket bolt.
  19. Remove the parking brake cables from the fuel tank.

  21. Disconnect the fuel vapor line from the solenoid valve.

  23. Support the fuel tank.
  24. Remove the fuel tank strap retaining nuts.
  25. remove the fuel tank strap.
  26. Carefully lower the fuel tank.
  27. Remove the fuel tank.
  28. Transfer any parts as needed.
