Installation Procedure

  1. Position the NEW rack and pinion inner tie rod nut at the match mark on the inner tie rod.

    NOTE: Install the rack and pinion outer tie rod end the same number of rotations as counted during the removal.
  3. Thread the rack and pinion outer tie rod end onto the rack and pinion inner tie rod.

  5. Install the rack and pinion outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  6. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  7. Install the NEW rack and pinion outer tie rod end nut and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  8. Tighten the rack and pinion outer tie rod end nut an additional 90 degrees.
  9. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  10. Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .
