Installation Procedure

- Position the NEW rack and pinion inner tie rod nut at the match mark on the inner tie rod.
- Thread the rack and pinion outer tie rod end onto the rack and pinion inner tie rod.
- Install the rack and pinion outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Install the NEW rack and pinion outer tie rod end nut and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten the rack and pinion outer tie rod end nut an additional 90 degrees.
- Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .
NOTE:
Install the rack and pinion outer tie rod end the same number of rotations as counted during the removal.
